The famous and well-known director and co-writer of Black panther, or Ryan Coogler, has recently signed a contract with Disney that will tie him to the house of Mickey for five years. The director is currently working on the sequel to Black Panther, but we know he will also direct one spin-off TV series set in the Kingdom of Wakanda which will soon be released only on Disney +. The executive chairman of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, expressed beautiful words for the famous director:
Ryan Coogler is a singular storyteller whose vision and scope have made him one of the leading directors of his generation. With Black Panther, Ryan brought a groundbreaking story and iconic characters to life in a real, meaningful and memorable way, creating a cultural turning point. We are thrilled to strengthen our relationship and look forward to sharing more great stories with Ryan and his team.
In response, Coogler stated that:
It is an honor to partner with The Walt Disney Company. Working with them on Black Panther was a dream come true. As avid television consumers, we couldn't be happier to launch our television business with Bob Iger, Dana Walden, and all of the fantastic studios under the aegis of Disney. We look forward to learning, growing and building a relationship with audiences around the world through Disney platforms. We are particularly excited that we will be making our first jump with Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios, where we will be working closely with them on select MCU shows for Disney +. We are already involved in some projects that we can't wait to share.
Black Panther is regarded as one of Disney's biggest hits ever, a film that grossed more than $ 1,3 billion globally and was the first superhero film to earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. The star Chadwick Boseman she died last year, but Coogler and Disney are moving forward, making a sequel to the beloved film.
