Okami: Ikumi Nakamura wants to reunite the original team for a sequel

In a recent interview with IGN Japan, Ikumi Nakamura, former director of Ghostwire Tokyo said he finally wanted to make a sequel to the iconic PS2 title, Okami, and hopes to be able to bring the original development team together to make the project concrete. Okami is a cult video game for PlayStation 2, developed by Clover Studio and published by Capcom in 2006, and despite the poor sales at launch, over the years it has become famous to the point of winning numerous re-releases on subsequent consoles, including most recently Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It is not the first time that Nakamura mentions his desire to make a sequel to Okami, but this time it seems to actually intend to do so, to the delight of the many fans who have been waiting for a sequel to the famous video game for years.

Nakamura spoke about the idea of the sequel when asked what her dream project would be, further adding that she will propose the title to the owner of the IP Capcom once the Coronavirus health emergency is over. There is reportedly a good chance the sequel could actually be made, but that it would be important to bring the original team members together, including Hideki Kamiya, director of the original title and currently working on Project GG a hero action game currently in development at Platinum Games.
