Back 4 Blood, the new title of Turtle Rock Studios and spiritual sequel to Left 4 Dead, whose release was initially scheduled for next June 22, 2021, adds to the long series of postponements that is bringing the entertainment sector to its knees in this particular period. This was announced by the development team through a short statement shared on the game's official Twitter profile. According to what has been stated, the team would need a little more time to be able to get Back 4 Blood to the level of quality they want to offer to the public since its official launch. The new release date for Back 4 Blood is set for al 12 October 2021, this means that luckily players will have to wait until next fall to finally get their hands on the highly anticipated zombie game.
In the same statement, Turtle Rock also announced that it plans to release one open beta for Back 4 Blood this summer, which will allow users to get a first look at what awaits us on October 12, 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC. Back 4 Blood was first announced during the 2020 Game Awards with an action-packed, zombie-filled trailer. According to what was previously stated by the development studio, the game will feature a four-player cooperative campaign, as well as an eight-player multiplayer mode, similar to the one we have already seen in Left 4 Dead. While the two games may look and feel quite similar, Back 4 Blood is not an official sequel to Left 4 Dead, as Valve still owns the rights to the franchise. Below you can find the statement published by Turtle Rock Studios regarding the postponement of the game.
Turtle Rock Studios is working hard to make Back 4 Blood the best possible game right from launch, and the team needs a little more time to get it right. For this reason, the release of the game has been officially postponed to October 12, 2021. We thank our community for the continued support they continue to give us, and we are excited to share with you that an open beta is planned for this summer.
