There are only a few weeks left until the digital and virtual stores of Ghost of Tsushima. The game could be configured as swan song for PlayStation 4, and promises great technical wonders - accompanied by an open and almost boundless world, apparently filled with so much action. From its announcement to today we have received a lot of information about what we will then find ourselves playing pad in hand, but the developers have not revealed every detail about the work. Indeed, Sucker Punch he stated that Ghost of Tsushima's black and white mode will be more than just a filter.
In an interview for Entertainment Weekly, the creative director John Connel talked about how the late Japanese director Akira Kurosawa influenced the development of the game. The black and white mode is in fact a tribute to his early samurai films, such as Sanjuro e Seven Samurai. The team worked hard to get a effect similar to that of the old films of the famous director, trying to replicate the same black and white levels (doing different tests with the color blind mode), but they were not limited only to the visual side, as the auditory one was also specially adapted. As if that weren't enough, after receiving the necessary permissions, the developers named the mode "Kurosawa Fashion".
In an excerpt from the interview, Connel stated the following statement:
We developed this video game that transports people to feudal Japan and Akira Kurosawa was our reference guide, especially in the early stages as we were trying to figure out how we wanted how we wanted the game to see the light. As we got closer to completion, we thought about what to call this special mode we created. Throwing down so many different names we came to think it would be great if we could call it Kurosawa Mode.
We remind you that Ghost of Tsushima will be available exclusively for PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020. In case you would like to know more details about the game, before its imminent release, we refer you to our article on the two patches to download on day one.
