In recent times, a new fashion is depopulating in the musical environment of the internet, especially in that linked to the rap and hip-hop genres. We are talking about a new musical point of view, avant-garde in certain senses which, especially on the internet (we could still say exclusively), is really gaining momentum. This is the 8D music, Also called 8D audio. Probably some of you will already know it, but in recent days, thanks to the forced quarantine, many users report the sharing of these audio also on WhatsApp chats. But what is 8D audio?
First of all, it should be explained that we are not talking about a last minute technology, it is in fact possible to listen on YouTube many of these songs have already been for several years, however no artist has ever wanted to use this "audio technique". 8D music, first and foremost, is an experience that it should be listened to only through the use of headphones. In this way, the impression that the user will have is that of being surrounded by a sort of "musical circle", where the sound of the song travels around our head simulating (and in some ways surpassing) that effect so loved by cinephiles through the use of Home Theater systems that disseminate speakers throughout the room. A famous sound engineer, Andrés Mayo, explained this technology that has depopulated on YouTube:
8D music is based on a manipulation that prevents the brain from picking up which side the sound is coming from. Thanks to the excellent mix work that is done to generate the 8D audio, the human mind is misled by the sounds that come and go, giving a feeling of 360 ° spatiality that greatly improves the simple stereo experience. In this way the music is no longer limited to just two sound sources (L + R) but to a spherical space that “cages” us, allowing us to appreciate any type of stimulus coming from any different point.
At the moment there are no artists who have recorded their music through this technique. However we leave you below some examples of very famous pop songs that we are sure you will appreciate:
