However, the Cupertino company does not always arrive before the others and this is the case of the rumors that have emerged on the net in the last hours. Indeed, it would appear that after the Galaxy fold di Samsung and Razr di Motorola, also iPhone soon it will be part of the array of smartphones equipped with folding display. To affirm it is Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with the consulting firm TF International Securities.
As reported by Kuo, Apple will make an iPhone model with a folding screen which, once opened, will measure approximately 8 inches diagonal. The timing of the launch of this device, however, would seem to be longer than expected for Apple, as at present the production costs to produce a single unit would be too high to make mass marketing sustainable. The production processes and components necessary to make a folding smartphone are the basis of the very high price that distinguished both the Galaxy Fold and the Moto Razr at the release. Furthermore, according to Kuo's opinion, the production of the foldable iPhone would still be at the research and development stage, with Samsung and LG ready to supply displays.
The arrival on the market could take place only after Apple has managed to solve the critical issues related to costs and has ascertained the level of demand, considering the form-factor which will inevitably make the product niche. A resealable iPhone shell it could represent yet another gamble or, once and for all, start the era of smartphones with a flexible display.
