The series ROG Phone di ASUS was the one that started the proliferation of smartphones designed and developed for gamers. Equipped with top-of-the-range hardware features and design and functionality that wink at gaming PCs, these smartphones have managed to carve out their own niche in a market as saturated as the mobile one. This success has prompted ASUS to create new versions over the years and, in the last few hours, has presented - after months of leaks - the fifth generation of its devices. The new series consists of three different models (ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro e ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, each of which is equipped with the powerful processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 888.
The CPU, thanks to the innovations introduced by Qualcomm, goes very well with the philosophy behind the new ASUS flagships as it introduces new features capable of increasing the reactivity of the touch and reducing latency. Of course, the quality of the screen is also of a high standard. All three models feature an AMOLED display with stand HDR10 +, refresh rate up to 144 Hz and 1 millisecond as response time. One of the peculiarities of the ROG Phone series is the named heat dissipation system GameCool which, with the new series, is further refined. According to the company, the processor positioned in the center of the device and the 6000 mAh battery divided on the two sides of the CPU help the heat to be distributed evenly on all corners and edges of the body, ensuring greater thermal efficiency. But what really stands out is the amount of RAM these smartphones have: ROG Phone 5 and ROG Phone 5 Pro have 12 GB of RAM LPDDR5 while the Ultimate version even has it 18, an absolute first in the smartphone market.
The Pro and Ultimate versions also have some tactile sensors on the back of the body which, like a controller, act as trigger keys. The audio sector is also very advanced, with the presence of a double speaker symmetrical with 7 magnets, jack input from 3.5 mm and specific software features that enhance the sound performance in games and multimedia content. Available starting in the next few weeks, the three models have different configurations that we have listed below:
- ROG Phone 5: 999 € for the 16/256 GB version, 899 € for 12/256 GB e 799 € for the 8/128 GB one;
- ROG Phone 5 Pro: 1199 € for the 16/512 GB version only;
- ROG Phone 5 Ultimate: 18/512 GB, available for purchase at a price of 1299 €.
Finally, ASUS has announced that all those who purchase any model of the ROG Phone 5 family will have free access for three months to Google Stadia Pro, through a voucher to redeem.
