To the great surprise of the entire gaming world, a new, tiny, portable console has been revealed. It is about Playdate, a small device proposed to us by Panic, the publisher behind the famous Firewatch title. This small object is a bright yellow color, by measuring only 7 cm x 7 cm and with a thickness of 9mm. Minimal is also what it proposes for the controls, limiting itself only to a directional cross and two buttons; however the peculiarity lies in the screen (anachronistically in black and white, not backlit, and tiny, 2.7 inches) and a crank, which optionally will have the task of analog control. As for ports, the console features a USB C for power and a headphone jack.
The price of the console is set at 149,00 Dollars, comprising an entire season of games, with every Monday for 12 weeks which will add a new game. Panic has dedicated this accessory to titles by independent authors, including also Keita Takahashi. The first title that will be available will be Crankin's Time Travel Adventure, which in all probability will make good use of the aforementioned crank.
These are the statements of Panic from the official site of the console:
"After twenty years spent developing software, we wanted to grow and push ourselves outside the confines of our comfort zone, embark on an adventure"
