Yesterday, Nintendo released a new update for the firmware of Nintendo Switch, which has been updated to version 12.0.0 and has solved several bugs including a particularly frequent one dedicated to backup your cloud saves and instabilities with the dock. Although many were waiting for this update to discover any clues dedicated to a possible support for a new hybrid console version "Pro“, As has been rumored for months now, no details have been discovered that would suggest in this direction… or at least until now!
A few hours ago, in fact, some dataminer on Twitter known as OatmealDome they searched the entire backlog of the new update, finding some very interesting code strings that would refer to the imminent arrival of a new dock for Nintendo Switch, which may even support video signal conversion up to one 4K resolution, thus going to balance the accounts with the standards of the latest generation rival consoles.
The code that most of all winks in this direction reads "is_crda_fw_update_supported", which mentions the new dock nicknamed CrdA: Cradle - i.e. dock - for Classroom, the code name that the new version of Nintendo Switch could have. Furthermore, another string mentions the 4K resolution verbatim ("4kdp_preferred_over_usb30"), suggesting how this new dock would be able to transform the signal into the standard resolution that other consoles have supported for some time now.
According to the dataminer, this particular update for the dock has never been present in any other of the updates published so far on Nintendo Switch, pushing even more towards the imminent announcement by the Kyoto house of this highly anticipated Pro version of their flagship console that many fans are waiting for. At the moment, however, these are only gods rumor appeared on the web and there is nothing official from the big N, so for the moment there is nothing left to do but wait and cross our fingers, waiting for any kind of announcement from Nintendo.
[Nintendo Switch Firmware Update]
About my earlier tweet about update 12.0.0 being able to upgrade the dock firmware…
There is also this setting:
"is_crda_fw_update_supported"
"CrdA" = Cradle (Dock) for Aula. Aula is the codename for the new model.
