John Carmack, co-founder of Id Software, software house specializing in making first person shooters, suggested that Sony and Microsoft “should auction off their consoles stocks”In an effort to fight the scalpers. By writing a post on your profile Twitter, Carmack, who has led a number of classic franchises such as DOOM, states that not only console makers should auction consoles, but console makers as well Nvidia GPU. His comments come following a global shortage of superconductors, with scalpers throwing themselves in supplies and they earn millions of dollars on the resale of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.

Given the shortage of 3090 and new consoles on the market, it would be better to sell these products through a transparent auction system initiated directly by the manufacturers. Something similar has already been done in the world of sales in the past. There will be outrage over higher prices, but removing middlemen should benefit consumers.
This system, according to Carmack, would discourage touts from buying a console, or PC hardware, at an excessive price and then failing to obtain a real economic return. Following this reasoning, however, the price of an entertainment product is likely to rise even for gamers, who too may have to spend an excessive amount to take home a console. The founder of id Software and creator of DOOM has indeed talked about the possibility of removing all these products from classic stores and opting for a completely different sales model. According to Carmack, the best way to stem the annoying scalpers is to proceed with the sale of next-gen consoles and video cards at auction. And what do you think, Sony and Microsoft should follow John Carmack's suggestions and put their products on sale?
