"Respect the legacy while adding new ideas"Is an ideology that is now heard almost every reboot of each series, so it is not a surprise to hear about something similar in the shadow of Microsoft on the subject of Fable 4. The latter, we recall, was developed by Playground Games , and the guys at Microsoft are promoting the experience in question with open world environments as part of what they will bring to the next Fable game.
So far, we've just heard that Fable's next game is "a fresh start for the legendary franchise“, One of the few pieces of information that came with the reveal trailer. The head of the Microsoft studio, Matt Booty, spoke to The Guardian of the Xbox X series, taking a quick look at the next upcoming Fable game. Since the man's revelations, rumors have circulated that the next Fable game will not be a Fable 4, but a MMO Fable:
Playground Games has a true passion for IP and a unique point of view on what is fundamental to Fable. Everything I've seen as the game progresses tells me it's going to be a very high quality version. With any kind of franchise like that, where you've had existing versions, there's always that balance between what you're about to bring forward, what's still standing, and what you want to add that's new. It's like the challenge of making a new Star Wars movie - there are things everyone wants you to take with you, but then you have a responsibility in that, and I strongly believe Playground has a good vision for that.
As for the legacy of Fable, I definitely hope Playground knows it better than I do. My memories are all trodden - I have almost no recollection of Fable 2, although at the moment I'm pretty sure I played it on my Xbox 360. I hope the company is able to pay homage to that story other people remember while I gives something that will stay in my old sieve of a brain.
