Road to E3: CD Projekt RED and the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077

After two years from the last presence at the Los Angeles fair - the software house was missing from E3 2016 - CD Projekt RED announced his participation in the long-awaited E3 2018. The famous Polish company, attracting the attention of a large part of the videogame audience, has declared that it will present an RPG for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Obviously there are no certainties regarding the video game that the software house will bring to the event, but it is very likely that it is CyberPunk 2077, title announced for the first time years ago and highly anticipated by the entire gaming world. So let's find out together what to expect from this year's presentation of this promising software house.

CyberPunk 2077, the game we all want!

The game that everyone awaits with a spasmodic anxiety, cyberpunk 2077. If you remember well the announcement of this title took place in the now distant 2012: at that time CD Projekt RED announced that it was working on a new open-world RPG strongly inspired by the board game created by Mike Pondsmith, Cyberpunk 2020. The Sci-fi setting of the title, set in a dystopian Californian city in 2077, together with the increasing fame of the software house, which established itself with the debut of The Witcher and then consolidated with the launch of The Witcher 2, stole the hearts of millions of gamers creating many expectations towards this futuristic game that remembered so much in their masterpieces of filmography such as Blade Runner. Unfortunately, the software house has never unbuttoned too much talking about Cyberpunk 2077, so the information in our possession is limited. In addition to the lore of the game we know that characters will have access to a number of different classes that will allow the player to strategically choose how to face the fights that will arise before him; obviously they will not be missing technologically advanced weapons and cybernetic systems able to enhance the characteristics of their heroes. There will also be, by the software house's own admission, the presence of microtransactions or hidden payments in game, a feature often present in the latest video games even if much criticized by the public. Among the known things there is also the graphics engine used to create this title: CD Projekt RED had initially thought of giving life to this game through the use of REDengine3, the same engine used for the creation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but about a year ago the software house announced that cyberpunk 2077 will use an enhanced version of this graphics engine called REDengine4.

It also appears that game development can now progress much faster than in the past: this thanks to the opening of a third studio located in Wroclaw, which will join those in Warsaw and Krakow in the creation of the game.Road to E3: CD Projekt RED and the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077

Certainties and hypotheses on one of the most anticipated games of this E3 2018

Six years have passed since that first announcement and, among new screenshots, short trailers and stolen documents, we have perhaps reached the most important moment for this title: the announcement of the release date. So what should we expect from this software house for E3 2018? We are practically certain that a new gameplay trailer will be presented which will show a lot more about the game world and its mechanics and, of course, at its end the launch window will finally be announced. CD Projekt RED recently stated that this title will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it is not excluded that the developers have already foreseen a version for future flagships of Sony and Microsoft. It is in fact conceivable that Cyberpunk 2077 will be published between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, thus inexorably approaching the end of the current consoles available on the market.

There is another question that grips us, however, and to which we cannot answer with certainty. Not having a dedicated panel, in which of the conferences will the software house present its game? The possibilities in my opinion are three and they are: the Microsoft conference, the Sony one and the PC Gaming one. The most probable, however, remains that of the company based in Redmond, which in fact has a lot to demonstrate to the world videogame audience and could take advantage of the presentation of cyberpunk 2077 to increase its visibility.

To learn more about the game and, above all, to see if our forecasts will prove correct, we will have to wait a few more weeks when, from 9 to 14 June, the most important videogame fair in the world will be held inside the Los Angeles Convention Center. : L'E3 2018.
