The development team behind Valheim, or Iron Gate Studio, recently advised all players to backup their characters and worlds after discovering the existence of a "world destroyer" bug that could irreparably compromise the saves. In a tweet, the CEO Richard Svensson explained how players can make backups and avoid losing their data due to the bug, confirming that despite having tried to fix this annoying glitch, the team has not yet been able to fix the problem. The reason for the bug, according to what was revealed by Iron Gate Studio, could be related to the exit from the game through ALT + F4 and not via the menu:
If you are playing Valheim this weekend, please backup your world and characters. The evil world-destroyer bug is still roaming free = (#valheim

If you play Valheim this weekend, back up your world and characters. The evil world destroyer bug is still on the loose. It is an evil bug, which I am currently unable to fix yet. It seems to occur more often if you exit the game via the ALT + F4 key combination, so we recommend exiting the game directly from the menu.

To make a backup of the game data, Svensson recommended the following procedure: go to C: UsersUsernameAppDataLocalLowIronGateValheim and once you get here copy the title files.
