Tales of Dunk and Egg: HBO working on the Game of Thrones prequel

As reported by Variety over the last few hours, HBO would be working on Tales of Dunk and Egg, the new prequel series of Game of Thrones based on the homonymous story by George RR Martin, the writer who has already laid the foundations for one of the most famous television series in the history of cinema. In fact, the show will reportedly be based on the tales of the Tales of Dunk and Egg trilogy, starring Ser Duncan the Tall and a young Aegon V Targaryen, 90 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire (A Chronicle of Ice and Fire) and the original Game of Thrones series.

The pages of the novel tell the adventures of Ser Duncan, known as Dunk, and Aegon, known as Egg. The latter will become Dunk's squire shortly after having collected and "adopted" the armor of a recently deceased knight, and then come to sit on the throne with Dunk at his side as Lord Commander of the Royal Guard. Moreover, within the stories it will be possible to meet some familiar characters of A Song of Ice and Fire, including Walder Frey when he was only four years old.

This new series will be a completely separate show from the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, which will tell the story of the famous family Targaryen. It's definitely interesting to note that the two shows will be completely separate from each other, especially considering Aegon's lineage but, most likely, there will be occasional character crossovers within the two series. While House of the Dragon is poised to catch up with the numerous waiting fans and will see filming begin in a few months, Tales of Dunk and Egg is only in early development for HBO and none of the key figures have yet been chosen for it. make the film adaptation of the story.
