Walt Disney Pictures has announced that it is engaged in the first phase of production of the remake in CGI di Robin Hood, the animated classic originally released in theaters in 1973. The screenplay was entrusted to Kari Granlund, formerly responsible for the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp for Disney +, while the direction is in the hands of Carlos Lopez Estrada (Blindspotting).
Robin Hood is the 21st Classic Disney and is based on the legend of the hero of the same name, but using anthropomorphic animals instead of people. The new version will be a musical and will again present the characters as anthropomorphic, this time in a format hybrid live-action / CGI as already seen in the remake of The Lion King, Dumbo and The Jungle Book. Disney's editorial line seems to want to focus heavily on live-action remakes of animated classics, especially after the incredible results of The Lion King and Aladdin, which both grossed $ 1 billion at the box office.
Disney announced that the 1973 film is one of the most viewed content since the streaming platform was inaugurated Disney + which a few days ago surpassed 50 million subscribers worldwide. Arrangements for the project were made before Hollywood was frozen due to the emergency Coronavirus.
