The actress, voice actress and TV presenter Kumiko okae died Thursday in a Tokyo hospital from pneumonia caused by the Coronavirus, after being hospitalized urgently on April 3. The health conditions of the Okae worsened due to her immune system previously weakened by a therapy she received from January to February to treat early stage breast cancer. She was 63 and well known in the community of Pokémon for giving the voice to Agent Jenny, the historical character of the animated series.
Born in Setagaya, Tokyo, Okae debuted on television in 1975, taking part in a large number of television shows, from drama and variety shows like Ten Made Todoke and entertainment shows like Renso Game on NHK. She is known in the animation world for voicing Agent Jenny in the Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew movie, as well as The Dog of Flanders, where she voiced Elina and the film.
