Since when PlayStation 5 showed the first games to the public, Sony's marketing department has always focused on SSD speed as one of the focal points of their fifth videogame generation. Now that the console is near the exit, we can finally observe this feature in practice and, one of the first products that allows us to do so is precisely Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The game developed by the boys of Insomniac Games It is one of first party arriving in time for the launch of the console and, although it is not primarily thought about this technology as the next chapter of Ratchet & Clank, it is ready to demonstrate the potential of the next-gen offered by Sony. Indeed, one lucky Twitter user published a video showing extreme speed of the uploads, of the work in question, on PlayStation 5. More precisely, it is possible to notice how the game serves seven seconds to switch on from the main menu, while only two to get to the actual gameplay.
Unfortunately it is not yet possible to make a comparison with the PlayStation 4 edition of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but already from here we can see how the title exploits the SSD to its fullest potential. As reported by the creative director of the project, that is Brian Horton, in a previous statement:
In addition to near-instant loading and lightning-fast times, the SSD and its speed allow us to load and view even more detailed content faster. In this way, the graphics of the city are more spectacular and our team is only starting to explore all these possibilities. This is a revolutionary change that we look forward to making full use of in the future.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is therefore slated to land on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 19, 2020, ready to surprise fans of video games and the famous wall climber of New York. While waiting for that moment to arrive, we remind you that the costume inspired by the movie animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
