Fortunately, in a recent interview granted to the Famitsu newspaper, the developers have decided to express themselves on this detail and have revealed what the nature of this new and highly anticipated title is. The answer is quite particular and at the same time excludes and embraces both possibilities.
As it stated by Yoko Taro, NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139, coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, is much more than just a simple one remastered, as the work done has made it possible to modify and readjust different aspects of the game, but since it will still respect the story and the scenes of the original title it is not possible to define it as a remake.
NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 will in fact include a improved gameplay, much more like that of Never Automata. Also with regard to dubbing there will be changes as all dialogues they will be voiced again, but will not be rewritten and will therefore be faithful to the original game. New content will be added, including some characters whose identity has not been revealed, and there may even be an alternate ending. In addition, the staff of Platinum Games was involved in the development.
