After the recent slips and postponements of some of the most anticipated titles in the world of cinema, too Sony Pictures announces slowdowns on the schedule, postponing the releases of some films originally scheduled for this 2021. If the postponement of titles such as No Time to Die, of Black Widow and Fast and Furioius 9 may have created discontent, today we unfortunately have to list several other titles that have suffered the same fate, including the expected cinematographic transpositions of Uncharted and Morbius.
The outputs of the Ghostbusters: Afterlife di Jason Reitman, which slips toNovember 11, Peter Rabbit 2: A rogue on the run di Will Gluck postponed to11nd June e Cinderella di Kay Cannon which will be released for 16 July, always remaining in this 2021. As regards the most serious delays, on the other hand, those that have been moved to next year, we have Uncharted, film adaptation made by Ruben Fleischer and based on the video game series of the same name that he sees Tom Holland as the treasure seeker Nathan Drake, which has a much more heartfelt postponement, coming out for theFebruary 11 2022. Another adaptation made for the big screen is Morbius, cartoon The Marvel movies that sees Jared Leto as an interpreter of the vampire protagonist, a title that has already undergone several postponements in the past and which now finds its release postponed for the January 21 2022. Tony Vinciquerra, president and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, stated the following:
What we're not going to do is make the mistake of putting a very, very expensive $ 200 million movie on the market, unless we're sure theaters are open and running at significant capacity. You're going to see a lot of weird things happening in the next six months about how movies are released, how they're scheduled, how they're marketed, but once they get back to normal, I think we will have learned a lot and found ways to do things differently and, hopefully, even better.
They still remain unchanged the release dates at least for Venom: Carnage's Fury di Andy Serkis still scheduled for 25nd June, together with the third and new chapter of the film saga of Spider-Man, directed by Jon Watts, still scheduled for December 17 of this end 2021.
With Uncharted and Morbius in particular, the list of films postponed directly to 2021 is extended due to the pandemic that in the last year has brought various working sectors to their knees, including cinema, not only with regard to its realization but also its usability, given that most of the cinemas to date are closed or accessible but with limitations that would heavily undermine the revenues of the films. We just have to wait and hope that these titles do not have to be postponed further.
