According to many reliable sources who reached the editorial staff of the Giant Freakin Robot portal, Sony would be producing a film based on the role-playing game Demon's Souls, which would bring the gloomy atmosphere of the title developed by FromSoftware on the big screen. After its original release, which took place way back in 2009 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, the progenitor of the "Soulslike" genre has received a new life thanks to its remake released as the flagship of the launch line-up of PlayStation 5 last November.
According to these insiders, the production will have a high budget allocated by Sony and will be one of the standout projects in the studios' next film season. At the moment the project seems to have just entered the early stages of pre-production, so very little is still known both about who will take care of it from a directorial point of view, and what the events told in the film will be about. The plot could cover the same feats that our hero undertakes within the game, or use the great material offered by his "lore" to transpose an unpublished story.
The sources that reached the American site with this exclusive information are the same ones who revealed information about some big productions that later turned out to be true, such as the bad nature of Bruce Wayne's parents in the film. The Batman with Robert Pattinson, or that Monica rambeau will also be among the protagonists of the series Secret Invasion coming soon on Disney +.
Despite the much greater success achieved by the series Dark Souls, which also got two sequels, the huge success of the Demon's Souls remake for PlayStation 5 prompted Sony to choose this title to be transposed to the big screen, at the expense of its spiritual successor. For now we can do nothing but wait to find out if this project will turn into reality, in the meantime you can take a look at our review of the remake of Demon's Souls for PlayStation 5, to find out what we think of this excellent title returned to glory. in this next-gen.
