Through a job posting from Dambuster Studios, it came to light that Dead Island 2, originally planned for Xbox One, PC e PlayStation 4, will no longer be released on old-gen consoles, but will only be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S e PC. This is just the latest in a whole series of news about the troubled development of the game. The title, presented at the conference Sony E3 2014 with a trailer, was initially in development at the German software house Yager Development in the division Yager Productions GmbH; however, the latter abandoned development (only to fail in 2015), due to creative differences with the publisher Deep Silver. In March 2016, development was resumed by Sumo Digital.
Despite the reiteration by the UK software house about the continuation of the project, and finally in August 2019 the ball passed into the hands of Dumbuster Studio, an internal studio of Deep Silver. The game will be a zombie-themed first-person survival horror with a strong action component, but you will also need to collect makeshift weapons to defeat and survive a myriad of zombies. According to the first trailer, the title should be set in California. It seems there are also the modifications of the weapons (as happened in the two previous chapters) and a total of 4 playable characters; the co-op cooperative was also confirmed. As for the technical component, the graphics engine of the game will be theU.
There is currently no release date for Dead Island 2nor a possible launch window. If you would like to recover the first two chapters of the series, that is Dead Island e Dead island riptide, we remind you that the Dead Island Definitive Collection, containing the definitive editions of the two games and Dead Island Retro Revenge for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
