For those who do not know him, Darkest Dungeon it's an addictive Gothic turn-based strategic roguelike RPG developed by Red Hook Studios and published on Steam in January 2016. After selling more than 8 million copies, including DLC, on PC and consoles (PlayStation 4 and PS Vita), the famous work of the independent software house is preparing to leave the screens to land directly on our gaming tables! In this adaptation of the acclaimed turn-based roguelike, our focus will be on cleaning up a manor (and its surroundings) from all sorts of wickedness: hordes of undead, obscene beasts and mysterious beings.
Darkest Dungeon is a fully cooperative game, in which players will take on the role of adventurers. Although courageous and determined, these will have only human features are and will be particularly vulnerable to the madness and pain of the twisted inhabitants that we will find in the basement. The title is marked with campaigns divided into 11 missions. To reach the infamous Darkest Dungeon, players will have to undertake 3 missions, characterized by a different level of threat, and defeat the boss. Only then will we be strong and worthy enough to face the horrors of the Darkest Dungeon! For every hero, we will have the possibility to select 3 out of 7 skills before entering a specific mission. Furthermore, it will be essential to choose the most suitable position in each room to best resolve the conflict. In each turn, a player can choose two of the available actions to move, interact with the environment, change their position or use an ability (if suitable for their current location). Clearly, our goal will not be to simply triumph over encounters, but to resist the rampant madness of the dungeons, and then immediately launch into another battle. In the board game there will be elements that have made i famous strategic roguelikes, such as permadeath and procedural dungeons
But that's not all, since between one mission and another, we will spend our time in the village, visiting various buildings to find relief from the physical and mental damage suffered by the adventurer. By restoring the village to its former glory, the latter will help us reach the final goal.
