Since when Remedy Entertainment acquired the publishing rights of the famous franchise many have wondered if the long-awaited sequel Alan Wake 2 would finally become real, and now a new theory is being developed that sees the project in question funded by Epic Games. With Wake playing a central role in the AWE expansion of Control, the time seemed ripe for his return, with many rumors generated on the net for some time.
Second Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat, it seems that Alan Wake 2 is actually in development, however to date we have not yet received confirmation from any official source. The man in question, however, has often guessed what he said, so it is possible that this time too he can catch us.
As revealed on the official Twitch channel of Grubb, Alan Wake 2 would have been financed in particular by the now known epic Games. Although there was a "bidding war" with multiple different companies, Epic essentially would have been the best bidder of all of them.
Last year in March, Remedy had confirmed he was working on two new generation projects not yet announced, coincidentally in collaboration with Epic Games, which would have held the role of publisher. In addition to receiving full funding, the net revenue would be split 50/50 between the two. In recent weeks, however, the company has declared that it is working on 5 games.
Remedy could also keep ownership of its IP and have full creative freedom. With the developer pushing their own universe connected, an Alan Wake sequel definitely makes sense. As Grubb notes, it "should be" the sequel that fans have been waiting for all this time, even though we don't really know anything about it yet.
Having said that, despite the fact that we have been talking about this for a long time now, the information in our possession at the moment is really scarce and we just have to hope for the arrival of new rumors or even official announcements.
