HBO officially kicked off the manufacture of the series The Last of Us. The show will see how creative minds Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) N (Naughty Dog) and will be produced by HBO and Sony Pictures TV together with PlayStation Productions, Word Games and the development team of the games from which the series is based, that is N. Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO Programming, said about the project as follows:
Craig and Neil are visionaries in a league of their own. With them at the helm alongside the incomparable Carolyn Strauss, this series is sure to be enjoyed by both avid fans of The Last of Us games and newcomers to this genre-defining saga. We are delighted to partner with Naughty Dog, Word Games, Sony and PlayStation to adapt this epic and incredibly immersive story.

Mazin and Druckmann will executive produce the series along with Carolyn Strauss (Chernobyl, Game of Thrones), Evan Wells by Naughty Dog, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan by PlayStation Productions. Johan Renck (Chernobyl) was supposed to direct the pilot, but had to drop out due to some scheduling issues. The Last of Us is set 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization. The first episode sees you as the protagonist Joel, a survivor who was hired to sneak out a 14-year-old girl named Ellie from a quarantine zone. A seemingly simple job, however, becomes a brutal journey on which the fate of all humanity will depend.
