Returnal: Housemarque's roguelike has been postponed

Sony Interactive Entertainment and the developer Housemarque they just communicated that Returnal, third-person roguelike, will have its release date postponed. The title, which was originally supposed to be released on PlayStation 5 this March 19th, instead, it will arrive on store shelves on April 30th. The postponement of Returnal, however, is only the latest in a long series that has continued since last year, and which has seen as the last illustrious "victim" Hogwarts legacy. These are the words of the statement released by Sony on Twitter:

Update: Returnal has a new release date of April 30, 2021. SIE and Housemarque have made the decision to move the release date in order to give the team extra time to continue to polish the game to the level of quality players expect from Housemarque.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Housemarque have decided to move the release date to give the team more time to continue to refine the game to the level of quality that players have come to expect from the product and the software house.

The postponement of Returnal does not surprise us, given the trend of the gaming market since the outbreak of the pandemic. I'm many, in fact, the titles that have been announced in recent months but which have nevertheless been postponed for a few months, to allow developers to work better on their product. However, the pandemic may not be the only reason for delaying the work of the software houses. The disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077in fact, it seems to have taught a hard lesson to the whole sector, which today seems to be weighing well its development policies. The postponement of Returnal was in fact preceded by that of many other titles: Halo Infinite, which was to be the flagship title of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will arrive at the end of 2021, while Hogwarts Legacy has even been postponed for a whole year.

Although April is around the corner, and that the postponement of a single month does not make the wait for us gamers so long, we feel we can say that this 2021, unfortunately, will see many other titles arriving late on our consoles compared to the expected schedule.
