During the last meeting with investors, Nintendo illustrated the latest financial results of the fiscal year just ended, and among these, one of the most significant data was the record of sales obtained from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, title released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on 7 December 2018.
According to what was communicated by the Japanese company, the fighting managed to sell all over the world (in just over four months!) well 13,81 million copies, surpassing even the acclaimed masterpiece The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and positioning itself just below Super Mario Odyssey.
A memorable milestone for the great N, which therefore sees in its new IP the best-selling fighting game ever, while stealing the place from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, still remained at 13,30 million copies. From the ranking, of course, cross-platform titles are excluded, and for this reason either Street Fighter 2 (with its 14,5 million), which Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and 3DS (with a cumulative 14,85 million behind them), video games still remain undefeated.
To keep in mind, however, is the fact that at the moment it is data destined to grow: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is still very young, and considering the fact that Nintendo will continue to support it for a long time, between updates e DLC for a fee, it could seriously reach even more mind-boggling figures in the future.
In the meantime, we leave you with our review of the title, written and edited by Simone Lelli.
