If I say Resident Evil, Vanquish, God Hand and The Evil Within what comes to your mind? To me 2 things: first of all real masterpieces, and then a brilliant person like Shinji Mikami.
Well I will venture to say that The Evil Within is a masterpiece, counting that the title has not yet come out, but if one of the founding fathers of the Survival Horror genre creates me a new IP, well, how can I not believe it?
This title immediately places itself defining itself as a true survival horror, as true as the old Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 and 4. Where all the famous horror sagas have turned into shooters with a slight hint of terror, Shinji Mikami decides to return to the old definition of Horror: in short, get ready to get scared!
Production goes to Bethesda, telling the story of a policeman, Sebastian, and the story that will lead him to face real nightmares, but which is not yet known.
The scenes shown are 2: in one a psychiatric hospital is visited, complete with a strange ultra-fast hooded guy; in another one is instead attacked by a horde of zombies.
The characteristics of this title are many, and make us hope for the best: first of all, the survival aspect is very much highlighted in the exploratory phases, forcing the player to look for objects to save himself; the enemies will be many, and escape is not a method to simplify the game but a real alternative to save yourself; the atmosphere varies from anxiety to restlessness, complete with perfectly positioned music.
The game stands as a perfect mix of Cinematic Action and Survival Horror, using a photograph with cinematic cuts, all designed to make us sublime impersonate this policeman, who will face a mysterious evil.
The game is not going to have us escort or help anyone, it will all focus on Sebastian, who will not be able to carry many weapons and ammunition.
During the experience the title will vary its color tones, focusing on the variation between dark gray and blood red.
Rivers of blood, terrible monsters, zombies, all seasoned with terror and fear, are ready to terrorize your nights and take away your sleep, in the return of the horror genius Shinji Mikami: but with the release of The Last of Us e Metro Last Light, will the father of survival horror be able to win the challenge?
