In the last ten days or so, as we know, Sony sent its next-gen console to a large number of newsrooms and influencers. Since then, an impressive amount of photos and videos relating to PlayStation 5, among these, also the images that show the official packaging of the console, where we too had noticed right away that among the contents included in the box was indicated a generic HDMI cable and not HDMI 2.1.
Other photographs have then highlighted a specific detail of the cable in question: on it, as can be seen in the image shown at the bottom of the news, it is indicated "High Speed" and not "Ultra High Speed" (as it should be for an HDMI cable of type 2.1, in fact). Well, in the last few hours it seems to have received confirmation from Sony itself: the explica.co portal states that GamePro, one of the largest retailers in Germany, he would have contacted Sony to ask for direct confirmation linked to the cable issue, to dispel any doubts. To that question Sony would have confirmed that the cable included in the PlayStation 5 package is of type HDMI 2.1, thus supporting the 4K resolution at 120fps.
The question had already been raised a few days ago and we too had tried to clarify the matter. As mentioned at the beginning, moreover, the fact that a generic HDMI cable was indicated on the official packaging of the console (here is the list of everything you will find inside the box). In any case, we are waiting for an official communication from Sony on the subject because, despite the fact that we can now read everywhere, in any language, that the Japanese giant has confirmed the presence of an HDMI 2.1 cable, it simply does not appear to us. We do not see any trace of Sony's official response on any official website and any social profile of the company. The question is not yet closed, in our opinion. Finally, it appears that Mediaworld will ship the consoles as early as November 13th (The official launch date of Sony's next-gen console is set for 19st November). In short, difficult days to receive any official announcement, don't you think ?!
