Oculus, the virtual reality center owned by Facebook, announced its first ever event dedicated to the presentation of VR games on its platform: theOculus Gaming Showcase. According to a statement released directly by the company, the event will take place on 21th April at 15 p.m. PT (00 p.m. EST, 18 p.m. BST and April 00, 23 a.m. AEST) and will be streamed on Twitch, Facebook and YouTube.
This is our first event entirely dedicated to star games on the Oculus platform. You can expect new updates for fan-favorite titles, never-before-seen footage of some unreleased games, and some surprises in store for you.
Interestingly, the announcement mentions that the event will be streamed only "in the United States and Japan", although we believe that other countries will also be able to take part in the viewing of the event. While the VR company organizes its event Oculus Connect every year since 2014, Oculus Gaming Showcase will be the first to focus solely on gaming titles on his platform.
Ready At Dawn Studios (creators of the popular title Lone Echo) gave us our first taste of the highly anticipated sequel to the Oculus Connect 2018 event, but since then the team has recorded several delays in development - partly due to the pandemic, and for this reason they have not yet announced any official release date. The studio was acquired by Facebook in mid-2020, which may have helped them enough with their production woes. For this reason, we have strong expectations that news will be announced during this Oculus Gaming Showcase.
The release then mentioned the developers Cloudhead Games, Ready At Dawn and ILMxLAB for their respective titles Pistol Whip, Lone Echo II and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge. We are therefore confident that it will be a truly full-bodied event, and we hope it will not be the last for the company.
