Nintendo has always been attentive to the needs of its customers, since the eighties, when the company threw itself headlong into the still immature world of gaming. During the era of NES the Kyoto house established a real one call center where customers could receive assistance from so-called “Nintendo experts” on how to pass certain levels of a game, to solve technical problems or simply to get advice on which new game to buy. Now it would seem that the big N wants to follow the old consulting project, which met with some success at the time, through a new service dedicated to its hybrid console: the "Nintendo Switch Concierge".
This new private assistance service allows the user to book a 30-minute appointment with a Nintendo representative. The counseling can touch on several topics related to Nintendo Switch such as initial console setup, security information, customization or just getting advice on what to buy. Obviously, the assistance will not be dedicated to helping players to extricate themselves through the various levels of a specific title as in the eighties, since thanks to today's information systems anyone can access solutions and guides with a simple click. For now, the consultancy is limited to American users only and we do not know if this service will also arrive in Europe.
Nintendo is experiencing a real golden age, thanks to the stratospheric success of Nintendo Switch and its first party games. The console has reached altitude 80 million units sold in almost 4 years and is preparing to match the sales of the Nintendo Wii, which in its 7-year life cycle has sold 101 million consoles. Games too can boast sales numbers that dwarf other companies in the sector; the best sellers for now are Animal Crossing New Horizon and Maio Kart 8 Deluxe, which have recently exceeded 30 million copies each.
