One of the titles that most of all fascinated fans of classic Japanese RPGs was definitely Octopath Traveler, which with its delightful art style that blends HD-2D and pixel art has captivated all owners of Nintendo Switch last 2018, achieving great success among audiences and critics, so much so that it was also released on PC e Google Stadia during the following years. This absolutely positive feedback was very pleased to Square Enix, who decided to turn the game into a real series by creating a title prequel which will be released on mobile devices soon, and a sequel of which the developers have finally released a small update.
In a recent interview with Famitsu, the producers Tomoya Asano e Yuuki Yokoyama of the Japanese development house talked about these two new projects. According to the two Square Enix executives, the next console chapter of this JRPG series is actually in development at the moment, admitting, however, that we will have to wait a little longer before revealing more information about this new classic RPG. Surely this statement does not calm fans' desire for new information, but at least they have finally confirmed the existence of the title and that new details will probably be released in the course of 2021.
As for the prequel, called Traveler Octopath: Champions of the Continent, is now just under a week away from its arrival on the digital stores for mobile devices, scheduled for the next 28 October in free-to-play format with the ability to purchase items in-game. Finally, to apologize for the lack of information on 'Octopath Traveler 2', the two producers invite all fans of the JRPG genre to try Bravely Default II, arriving on Nintendo Switch in this 2020, so as to have an excellent alternative to satisfy the desire for classic role-playing games.
