It has been talked about for years now, and most gamers have always considered it a utopia. Instead, despite everything, what seemed like a distant dream has finally turned out to be a reality and will arrive in our homes in the not too distant future. We are obviously talking about thatHogwarts legacy unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase 2020, the brand new RPG inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter. Despite the rumors that have been circulating about this title for years, the presentation trailer was a real breath of fresh air for all fans. In this article we will talk about the gameplay and make some hypotheses about the plot; we obviously want to reassure you that what you read will be based only on assumptions - given the little narrative information released for now -, so there will be no spoilers of any kind.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
As the trailer in question shows us, our story will be set around at the end of the 1800, contrary to what was originally thought. According to many, in fact, initially the adventure should have taken place after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, ie after May 2, 1998. We have instead found that, instead of modern and magical modern day equipment, we will be transported into the last century, in a more ancient and typically Fantasy. From what we have been able to see in the images shared with us so far, most of the game will take place inside the school. Like a classic RPG, you will be the authors of your own destiny. After the creation of a character and the sorting in the various houses (obviously at the player's choice), your adventure will begin between witchcraft lessons and magical potions. Each player can choose the field in which to specialize and the spells he will want to learn. Furthermore, the possibility of creating guilds or factions should not be missing. The only thing that is not clear to date concerns the way in which we will be able to form these teams. In case you are given the possibility to create groups only together with members of your own home (which surely will be Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff e Black Crow), the game could be more realistic and fierce, but it would also force people with the desire to play in a group to choose the same team or challenge each other continuously (thus ruining many friendships).
As for bosses and dungeons, the Wizarding World is certainly more than suitable and suitable. The thousands of fantastic creatures present near Hogwarts and the Forbidden Forest could be used as boss and animals from farming. Also draghi, as we could see inside Gringotts in the last chapter, or during the Three Wizards Cup of the fourth chapter, they could be complex and very difficult monsters to fight. Another question that will not be easy to deal with Hogwarts legacy it might be the flight. As many will know, several scenes from the books and films are set astride a broom. Also, in addition to flying lessons, an important part of the wizarding world is occupied by Quidditch. We do not know if absolute freedom will be given to use the brooms (which we know is not properly allowed within the school area), but we hope that some mission will allow us to hover freely in the air.
Hogwarts without Rowling's hand
We certainly cannot expect to be able to meet, within Hogwarts legacy, all the characters we have come to know. Recall that the events of the books / films take place from 1991 until the final battle we mentioned earlier in 1998. In addition to the timing problems, the main problem that forced the creators of the game to set it in this time was precisely the producers' relationship with Rowling, famous writer and creator of the entire wizarding world. In fact, the staff was keen to specify that the woman was not directly involved in the creation of the title, despite everything being inspired by her stories. As many will know, after various transphobic comments, most of her collaborators have decided to limit or even close relations with the writer, to protect their image. According to what has been stated, therefore, there should be no references to the stories that we all know. However, this does not prevent them from being done anyway some references.
Manufacturers have indeed claimed that the lore of Hogwarts legacy it will be entirely inspired by the stories we know. Therefore, some places and objects that we are all fond of cannot be missing. To begin with, just think about the Deathly Hallows, or the three objects that Death gave as a gift to the three Peverell brothers; we are talking about the Elder Wandand Resurrection stone and Invisibility cloak. Surely we could hear about it towards the end of the game, when by now most of the plot will have been told and the gameplay will have become much more difficult (who knows that the three objects will not be used for the fight with the final boss).
Secondly, we must not forget the iconic places that we have come to know over time. First of all the Chamber of Secrets, the underground room created by Salazar Slytherin as the abode of his Basilisk. We do not know if we will be given the opportunity to enter it, but we are sure that many people will go to the girls' bathroom on the second floor to somehow try to access it. Impossible not to mention the Room of Requirements, used in the film by Dumbledore's Army to train in Defense Against the Dark Arts. We know in fact that the room, defined by many as a “secret closet”, appears in times of need; it might therefore be interesting to be able to open it to, perhaps, get some sort of help. Among the places we would like to be able to visit, this time outside the walls of Hogwarts, it also figures Hogsmeade. This English village entirely inhabited by wizards, could be very useful to various players for the purchase of objects or other accessories.
As we have already told you previously, ours are only hypotheses and we preferred to talk to you about what we would like to see inside Hogwarts legacy. The game is scheduled for release May 2021, except for last minute postponements. As announced, the title will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One e Xbox Series X / S. Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Portkey Games, surely it is a gamble on the part of its creators. The expectations of one of the biggest and most aggressive fandoms in the world can only be skyrocketing and, in case of disappointment, they will not fail to destroy the title in all respects. So we just have to hope to discover some news as soon as possible and wait for May to finally try the adventure. In the meantime, we refer you to our pages which, as usual, we will not fail to constantly update.
