The two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso returns to the world of virtual racing, launching a new eSports team. The team was formed thanks to an agreement between the team FA Racing of Alonso, who also competes in the Formula Renault Eurocup, and the team Fast Esports, flanked by technical sponsor Logitech G. It is not the first time that the former Formula 1 driver is interested in simracing. In fact, last year he had already collaborated as a partner with the Spanish professional team G2 Esports even if, during the summer of 2018, he had abandoned the project.
Veloce boasts a large pool of talent across multiple titles, including the race winner BRDC of Formula 3, the very young Jamie Chadwick and a partnership with the reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne.
Alonso stated:
I am really excited to present a talented team of drivers to represent my team for the 2019 season. I have selected some young talents, who are ready to continue to lead the team to success.
Chadwick added:
Simracing has filled the gap on real formula racing when it comes to strategy, competition and skill. Joining the team with Alonso and my other fantastic teammates will allow me to use my experience behind the wheel and skills to give it my all.
Other confirmed drivers include 2017 eWTCC champion Alexander Dornieden who, like Chadwick, has already been part of the Veloce team. McLaren Shadow finalists Xiang Gao and Ebrahim Almubarak are also on the roster
