Rise Of Industry is a new management title developed by the guys from Dapper Penguin Studios. We are talking about an early access title that is followed day after day by developers who continuously implement new mechanics and features suggested by the community. Rise Of Industry is part of that circle of tycoons intended for an audience of fans: it contains many particular mechanics and sometimes difficult to manage if you are new to the genre but, through an in-depth tutorial divided into 3 macro areas, we will have all the cards on the table to be able to start a game without going bankrupt after only 5 minutes.
We will have a large map dotted with large and small cities, and in each of them we will have two possibilities: acquire the trade rights, and the total ones that also include production, and therefore the construction of new factories or farms to produce raw materials to be transformed into increasingly precious and expensive materials. However, we must be careful, because the management of supplies is as important as the management of money, and if we produce too much we will saturate an area of the market and we will clog our production chain by slowing down all processes. On the contrary, if we produce too little or too slowly the cities themselves will be able to start building factories to fill our shortcomings, thus taking away a not insignificant slice of the market e making us lose money.
We will also have to carefully study the layout of our buildings: they must not be too close to the cities, otherwise they would produce too much noise and the air would become unbreathable, but they must not be too far from inhabited centers because in addition to managing resources we will also have to manage logistics. and the movements of each individual truck. This is where Rise Of Industry finds its strength, logistics management is as difficult as it is interesting, our task is to manage every single vehicle by assigning each of them a resource, a starting point and an arrival point. It may seem extremely cumbersome at first but as you advance in the game it will become more and more intuitive and simple, using different grouping and management techniques.
To make our industry super efficient, we will therefore also have to think about well-thought-out road connections, designed in such a way as to allow our couriers to travel long distances in a short time. To help us in this task will come better and better roads that will increase the speed of transport, too advancing in the game we will unlock trains, ships and airships that will allow us to get to places otherwise unreachable. To unlock these new functions we will need to advance in the skill tree which is not dedicated exclusively to logistics but to everything we produce: from vegetables to luxury products, the skill tree allows us, through the points that we will get by producing and by selling certain products, to create new factories or improve the ones we already have, including, of course, all the logistics.
This part of the game is also well structured, each development sector has its own points for advancement, not forcing us to choose which sector to improve at the expense of another. But if you believe that finance management combined with all the other factors listed above are not for you, then the game offers a sandbox mode where you can experiment with all the trading techniques without having to worry about money or unlocking new branches of industry, great for newbies who need to understand at least the trade mechanism.
Rise Of Industry despite being an early access game is a complete and complex title able to give fans of the genre hours and hours of fun, getting more and more into the maze of their industry. Fortunately is heavily supported with constant updates and bug fixing aimed at making the game a little gem. We are waiting for a definitive version to be able to deepen even more this game with great potential and thus be able to bring you a complete review. Stay tuned!
