PlayStation VR: PlayStation 5 games will not support the headset

As reported by the uploadvr.com portal a Sony spokesperson allegedly said them, by email, that PlayStation 5 games who own a Augmented Reality mode through the use of PlayStation VR headset they will not be supported by the new console. For example, to use the VR mode of titles such as Hitman 3 e No Man's Sky on PlayStation 5, the only way will be to own PlayStation 4 version titles, and then start them in mode backward compatibility on the next-gen console of the Japanese giant. According to this rumor, moreover, the spokesman for Sony would have added: "We have not announced titles for PS5 compatible with PS VR".

A few days ago Hello Games announced the next-gen version of No Man's Sky, which will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S on the launch day of the new consoles (November 19 for Sony, November 10 for Microsoft). In the article we specified that the title was compatible on PlayStation 5 in Augmented Reality mode allowing the use of the PlayStation VR, and in fact it is so, but only by starting the title in the PlayStation 4 version, using the backwards compatibility mode of the new machine. Sony has already made it clear that to use the PlayStation VR on the PlayStation 5 it will be necessary to request a (free) adapter, created specifically for its next generation console. On how to make the request, Sony has dedicated a page on its official website, as we have explained here in detail. Once you have completed the form you will be entitled to receive only one adapter per household and you will need to own the PS VR serial number.

Regarding, however, the awaited new version of the viewer, the PlayStation VR 2, app PS Remote seems to suggest compatibility. It also seems that the new viewer can be used without using any cables. To dig deep into the files of the PS Remote Play application we thought the guys from Lumen, who communicated the news via a tweet from their official profile, as we have explained here in detail.
