When you decide to improve a gameplay that is practically already refined and close to perfection, the choices are very few: sometimes it is also easy to fall into error, changing something that works and ruining the present balance. Fortunately we can immediately tell you that DOOM Eternal it is not part of the latter case, but rather it is a direct evolution - in all its parts - of the previous experience.
The first thing that catches the eye is the strategic choice included in the game: in addition to the classic weapons, to conclude our executions against these demons (which you can do once the enemy starts to be bright) we will have within reach hand this time not only the simple chainsaw or the melee shots, but also a flamethrower. The choice of which of these three to use will change the "loot”That you will receive (energy, shield or ammunition): in this way you will be able to choose the course of the game in a more thoughtful way than before.
All this, however, does not undermine the speed of the game, a fundamental element of the saga that returns again this time in a guise made of adrenaline, blood and speed. However, in order to return to your glory as a player DOOM, you will not only have to learn how to make the right executions, but also to take advantage of the new grip system: in addition to the classic dash, in fact, you will have the possibility to hang on the walls, adding further depth to the level design.
In short, the two big news are at the same time very important for the gunplay but equally vital for the evolution of the game: if it is true that you will have many new areas to explore, discover (perhaps by finding some useful object or some easter egg), you will have other and many ways to jump on your enemies, so to tear them apart with your firearms (and not only). The small strategic vein - which you must not confuse with a distortion of the title - is precisely the only possible addition that the guys at iD Software could do: all this, combined with the detail of the level design (and of Mars) reached by the software house, allows DOOM Eternal to be a worthy sequel, a further step forward and a great opportunity to return to shooting and racing, as has not been done for a long time in the gaming landscape.
