Preliminary information
Before explaining what the best settings for Fortnite PS4, I think you might be interested in learning more about why it is important to choose the right settings.
Well, you should know that Epic Games' Battle Royale offers options that can improve the experience, in terms of fluidity, even on consoles. This is a somewhat limited possibility compared to the myriad of settings present on PC, but learning how to manage these options can still guarantee you a few FPS (frames per second) more, which is certainly not to be thrown into a fast-paced game like Fortnite.
The most important aspect to take into consideration, as regards the console version of the game, however, is that relating to input method. In fact, more experienced players usually try to create themselves a personalized experience, in order to be able to obtain the greatest possible competitive advantage.
In short, being able to get your hands properly on the settings of the PlayStation 4 version of Fortnite can be particularly useful to be able to compete at high levels with other players.
Best Fortnite PS4 Settings: Controller
After explaining to you the importance of customization in Fortnite, I would say that you are ready to take action and see what are the best configurations to use the controller.
Well, speaking of the commands via pad, Epic Games has done a great job with regards to choice. In fact, Fortnite already implements excellent ones by default preset designed for any type of player. The most interesting configurations in this regard are Fast builder, an arrangement of the keys which allows the construction of structures in a particularly rapid way, e Combat professional, which instead allows you to have that extra speed that can be used during quick clashes with other players.
To access these options, you need to go to the lobby area of Battle Royale di Fortnite, first il pulsating Options of the pad, select the item SETTINGS and press on R1 until you reach thecontroller icon present at the top right. From here you can choose the configuration you want to use, using the buttons L2 / R2 e X. Also remember to press the square button of the pad to apply the changes.
Obviously there is also the possibility to configure the keys to your liking, by selecting the item custom. In any case, my advice is to try to rely on the best ones preset which I mentioned earlier, as even several pro players keep the controls unchanged in this regard. On the other hand, contrary to what happens on PC, the distance between buttons on the controller is more or less always the same and therefore there is not much of an advantage in moving the controls.
At most, if you own the placement of a key you do not like it, you can change it from the settings, via the aforementioned item, but there it depends on your needs. Now, however, you have all the information to find the configuration that's right for you.
Once you've found the right key settings, you might want to think about taking a look at the advanced controllers on the market. In fact, pro players often don't use normal DualShock 4, which is the pad that was provided to you in the box with the PlayStation 4, but third party controllers specially designed to guarantee a competitive advantage.
To give you concrete examples, these pads usually offer the possibility of “Lock” the triggers to allow you to shoot and aim faster, managing to hit the enemy first, and have re-assignable keys depending on your needs, which could allow you to speed up game actions a lot. A very interesting solution from this point of view is the Razer Raiju Ultimate, believed by many to be one of the best controllers for Battle Royale titles.
Those mentioned are only examples of the advantages that can bring the purchase of an advanced pad for PlayStation 4 and, in my view, it is more this accessory to make the difference that the configuration of the keys. For more information, I recommend that you consult my guide to the best controllers for PS4, where you can find all the details of the case regarding the controllers available on the market.
Best Fortnite PS4 Settings: Keyboard
While the primary input method used on consoles is clearly the controller, the PlayStation 4 and Fortnite officially support the use of mouse and keyboard and there are some players who prefer the latter to the classic pad.
In this case, the customization of commands it is quite important. In fact, the default position of the keys can make theindividuation and pressure of the same. We are not talking about anything special, but the pro players know very well that even a few milliseconds they can do the difference in a fast-paced game like Fortnite.
Here then is that professional players, as Ninja, have decided to change several settings from this point of view. In particular, the well-known pro player has set the key C per crouch down (usually used Left Ctrl) and changed the buttons to access the fourth and fifth weapon inventory by assigning keys respectively Z e X keypad (by default the number buttons are used 8 e 9).
For the rest, it is very important to configure the keys related to the construction mode. Indeed, it is well known that the latter is very important to succeed in fend e catch the opponent off guard in the chaos of Fortnite's Battle Royale. In particular, professional players need to build the various structures at supersonic speeds and, for this reason, the default configuration, which would assign construction mode to the keys F1 to F5.
The latter are then replaced with i side mouse buttons regarding the construction of the Wall and stairs, the button Q for the realization of the floor, the button Left Shift for the construction of the roof and the key 5 for the placement of traps. If you don't have a mouse with side buttons, I invite you to check out my guide to the best gaming mice.
In short, as you may have already noticed, Ninja prefers to use only buttons that are directly on the mouse or anyway close to the classic WASD keys that are used for movement. In this way, game actions are carried out in shorter times compared to other players and this means that you could be able, for example, to build before the opponent.
If you are thinking these players have a competitive advantage compared to those who use a controller, don't worry: Fortnite splits its servers by input method used and therefore a user using the pad cannot meet someone using a mouse and keyboard. If you don't know how to use this input method on console, I invite you to consult my tutorial on how to play Fortnite with a mouse and keyboard.
Best Fortnite PS4 Settings: Sensitivity
A setting that is often underestimated by novice Fortnite players is that related to sensitivity of the input method. In reality, we are talking about an aspect of fundamental importance and in fact usually the pro players go to "get their hands" on this setting.
As regards the controller, the configuration used by professional players is always very similar, but to be precise I will explain that of the well-known pro player From Ghost MoonWell, usually the latter sets the speed of horizontal view a 47% and vertical speed a 45%. The sensitivities of construction ed edit I am instead a 1.7x, while the values chosen for the deadzone are 0.12/0.09.
Moving on to mouse and keyboard, I will consider the settings that Ninja, one of the most famous Fortnite streamers and pro players in the world, showed during one of his classic live shows on platforms such as Microsoft's Mixer and Amazon's Twitch.
Well, the well-known professional player usually sets the X Axis Sensitivity a 7.5%, While the Y axis sensitivity is equal to 6.5%. The sensitivities of pointing e surprise of the mouse are instead al 30%while for the "Cursor speed" it is better to set 800 DPI.
For more details and for constantly updated information on configurations used by pro players, I recommend you to use the tool Fortsettings, directly accessible via a common browser for web browsing.
To use the service, just connect to the official FortSettings website, type the name of the pro player (es. "Ghost Aydan") nella search bar in the center of the page, press on theright arrow icon and select the outcome most relevant. All the details regarding the configuration of the professional player will appear on the screen and you can use them too.
Clearly, we are talking about settings designed for pro players and it may take some time before to get used to at these settings, but I can assure you that the results will show once you master these sensitivities.
Best Fortnite PS4 Settings: Graphics
Although the classics are not available on consoles graphic settings present on PC, the PlayStation 4 version of Fortnite still offers some interesting options.
I am referring, in particular, to the possibility of activating the motion blur and statistics related to fluidity of the game. As for the first, it is a effect able to give a feeling of "wake", just like the one that the lights in the real world. Despite the very pleasant visual effect, if you want to bet everything on performance, you should disable it.
Turning instead to FPS statistics, it is simply a few written that appear on the screen while you play and therefore do not affect performance. We are talking about useful information to understand the fluidity of the game and maybe understand if there is something wrong: I therefore advise you to activate these statistics and keep them monitored.
To enable / disable these options, all you have to do is go to the lobby of the mode Battle Royale, first il pulsating Options of the controller and press on SETTINGS. After that, just move on Yes o No the options MOTION BLUR e SHOW FPS And that's it.
I also want to clarify that, from 2018, the PlayStation 4 edition of Epic Games' Battle Royale runs by default at 60 FPS. This means that you shouldn't have any particular problems at the level of fluidity, but if you're looking to maximize the frame rate then you should check out my guide on how to increase FPS on Fortnite.
Finally, I would like to advise you to also take a look at my tutorials on how to put the squashed view on Fortnite and how to remove the shadows on Fortnite. These are two aspects that often annoy PlayStation 4 players and therefore following the tutorials I have indicated could be useful for you.
Fortnite PS4 Settings: Language
How do you say? Do you want to change the language of Fortnite? No problem: the game has an internal functionality that allows you to do this.
To proceed, you need to go to the lobby area of Battle Royale Fortnite, press the key Options of the pad, select the item SETTINGS, press the button R1 controller and select the language where you want the game via the first available option. Also remember to press the button triangle to apply the changes. You may be asked to restart the game.
In short, now you have all the necessary information available to set the options that are right for you.
