Ant-Man and the Wasp: press meeting with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly

Ant-Man and the Wasp: press meeting with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly

After seeing the preview of Ant-Man and the Wasp yesterday we had the opportunity to participate in a press meeting with the two protagonists of the new film The Marvel movies. During the interview Paul rudd e Evangeline Lilly they answered some questions from journalists:

What does the Marvel Cinematic Universe mean to you?

Evangeline: For me the Marvel Cinematic Universe is something that makes us feel good and brings a sense of hope even at a time when this world would not allow it.

Paul: I can only say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a very important part that has been added to my life, both for my career and for my children.

You are the likeable Ant-Man while Hank Pym is a very controversial character. What did it mean for you to play this superhero and rehabilitate him?

Paul: I think Michael Douglas would have to object to this statement. However our job is simply to bring the essence of this world and characters to the big screen, sharing it with the audience.

Have you ever found yourself in situations in which you would have liked to be able to shrink?

Paul: Not once, but several times I found myself in situations in which I wanted to disappear, as I often find myself in these circumstances.

Evangeline: When I was working on Lost, we met every week with the cast to review the episodes we shot and on that occasion I wish I could have done so, as it was my first acting experience and I felt uncomfortable seeing myself again.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: press meeting with Paul Rudd and Evangeline LillyHow has your relationship with insects changed since you played these characters?

Paul: As far as ants are concerned, my relationship has completely changed. When I walk I always carefully avoid crushing them and leave them in peace since I now see them as brothers or sisters.

Evangeline: I have always had a very special relationship with insects since ever. I used to protect them as a child and I liked wearing them and scare other girls.

During the first film, did you already discuss with Kevin Feige about your role in the second?

Evangeline: when I was chosen to shoot the first film I had read the whole script and when I reached the final line I had already understood that it would be the key to everything. I knew that if I put in the effort and the film went well I would have a good chance of playing this role in the sequel.

How does the use of rejuvenating effects in cinema make you feel?

Paul: I can only tell you that when Michael Douglas learned that Michelle Pfeiffer was going to act with him he was already very excited; when they told him they would rejuvenate her by thirty years, he became even more so!

Evangeline: My first experience with digital models was when I starred in The Hobbit. Initially I was against it because I was scared of the effect it could have in the future on the role of the actors, but going forward I resigned myself as it would have been inevitable as a process.

Which fictional character did you dream of being as a child?

Paul: Hulk. But I didn't get the part.

Evangeline: I've always wanted to be a middle-earth elf or play Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman. Having played him in The Hobbit and currently working with her I can say that I am definitely living my dream.

Which family are you most fond of: the television one with which you started, the cinema one or the Marvel one?

Paul: I have to say that when you make a film you spend several months with the crew members and making these Marvel films has created a real bond of friendship and familiarity.

Evangeline: Although I got along very well with Marvel I have to admit that having spent six years of my life on the island of Lost, I found some wonderful people that I loved and who helped me not to feel alone when I was.

What do you think of the fact that Hollywood favors adult superheroes over young ones?

Paul: I think Hollywood still has a preference for young actors, but I still find it odd that there are so many superheroes that are over the years. I am at the top of this list and I am deeply grateful.

Evangeline: It is nice to see that we are facing a force that is opposed to penalizing those who show their age. Perhaps the first were Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow who proved that it is possible to be extraordinary and attractive despite one's age. I want to be able to honor my age because I will inevitably get older anyway by becoming wiser with my experience and I will have more to offer to the world. I think this confirms that there is much more to a woman than a young face.

Paul rudd e Evangeline Lilly will attend tomorrow at the 48th edition of Giffoni Film Festival. The film of Ant-Man and the Wasp will be officially released in theaters starting from this August 14 2018.
