Pitfall - Bad Seed Turn-Based MOBA Review

When you are faced with a game that has both the characteristics of a strategic one and those of a MOBA there is always a bit of skepticism in the air, but you must always try to go beyond prejudices especially when it comes to a title. coming from the Bel Paese that does not always enjoy the right attention as regards the videogame field. Pitfall is a turn-based strategy with typical MOBA characteristics, created by the Bad Seed team and released on February 28, 2018 on Steam. During each game, our goal will be to destroy the opposing team's base, and this can be done in two ways: by penetrating the defensive shield to blow up the base from the inside, or by depleting its energy supply by eliminating all the defenders.
Pitfall - Bad Seed Turn-Based MOBA ReviewWhat immediately catches the eye is the post-apocalyptic setting and the cartoonish character design, a genre very popular in recent years. When a devastated world meets rudimentary technology then everything becomes more fascinating. After this first positive impact, action is taken immediately: land game mechanics are not completely intuitive, but are fully illustrated during the first phase of the tutorial. After familiarizing yourself with the controls, you realize that the game system is actually simple and effective. At the beginning of each game the player must compose his team, selecting four of the ten heroes currently available, each belonging to a class and with its active and passive skills. Once in the game we will find ourselves on a small arena divided in part by square boxes, with several points of interest highlighted. These are the spawn platforms, from which to summon the characters, the base of your team and that of the opponents, both placed on the sides of the arena, and a central cross that makes a cannon appear that destroys one of the three opposing shields creating an opening to be able to penetrate the enemy base . There is also the presence of energy crystals useful for charging the skills of the characters. As already mentioned before, the combat system takes place in turns: each player can make only one character act at a time, and once a character has been taken during one turn it cannot be reused in the next one. The various actions follow a precise order, where the first moves will be dedicated to the movements and then we will move on to the actual attack. The opponent's actions will be a mystery to us and this increases the unpredictability of the game's events, making it much more interesting and competitive.

Pitfall - Bad Seed Turn-Based MOBA ReviewInsidia obviously aims to be part of the eSports of the moment and has all the credentials to do so. The fact that the mechanics are simple and immediate makes it accessible to everyone, but it doesn't make it a simple game. Indeed, the strategic component is really relevant and has a considerable weight in the success of the match. Hardly a casual gamer could play a quality game without too many hitches. The characters are well calibrated with each other and are very well made, but there is a mole that the most fussy could create annoyances: the features of characters like Trauma and Gunther may be all too familiar to you (coff… Tracer… coff Torbjorn). Everyone likes the cartoon style these days, we know, but in the character selection screen I had more than one deja vu. Even the arenas seem too similar to each other and above all they are very few. This is not going to affect the gaming experience in depth, but it could be a real problem for those looking for the novelty in everything. Obviously, if Insidia were to earn the success it deserves, developers will add more and more content to this interesting and affordable title, being a free-to-play adaptable to most computers.
