The second episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm has been released by Deck Nine Games these days, after a long and fateful wait that has lasted more than a month. After the impressive conclusion of the last chapter we will finally be able to see the consequences of our past actions in this second episode, the present. Given the past, our protagonists will in fact find themselves ad face principal Wells to account for their exit that united them so much in the last adventure. Although Rachel is deprived of her starring role in the school play and Chloe is permanently expelled from it, the experience they spent together will only bring the two girls closer and closer. The familiar situations of both will only push them inexorably to find an escape from the sad reality of Arcadia Bay.
The new world
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the title also has it as a background to the main events a natural cataclysm that will drag itself into the background for its entire duration. Similar to the climatic storm that will threaten the town in the near future, the fire that started in the last episode will continue to flare up and change over time, silently marking the inevitable end to which we will meet with the next release.
Although this is a prequel to the first Life is Strange, and therefore this tells a story with an epilogue already marked, the new chapter will still guarantee us a completely new vision of the character of Rachel Amber, the true protagonist of this story. The writers will not fail to show us the evolution of this relationship with scenes full of touching and unconventional moments worthy of the name of the series. Furthermore, there will also be pleasant references and background on the various secondary characters that we will see in Life is Strange. Finding out how these people were and what they have had to face over the years will allow us to put ourselves in their shoes more and more. An opportunity perfectly exploited this time too.
To conclude
This second episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm will guarantee one narrative continuity perfectly in line with what we have seen so far. Despite Brave New World take some slow enough times to tell its particular story, however, remains a worthy sequel to the story staged so far. Paradoxically, the expansion of the exploratory parts in the game, instead of being a pleasant detachment from the dialogue sequences, will unnecessarily lengthen everything without providing anything too stimulating to solve. Although the greater care taken into these parts of the game is appreciable, these will certainly not be the most significant parts. Even the new ones insolence challenges introduced in the last chapter will be implemented to pose that minimum of challenge to those who decide to dare to get that something more from the conversations in which we will find ourselves. However, this will become less and less indispensable given the variety of approaches that we may decide to use to proceed in the course of our adventure.
Whichever way we decide to continue, the one that will remain unchanged in the game will be there fatefulness of our choices. In one way or another we will in fact find ourselves facing certain situations that will require us to take very specific moral parts. Arriving at its conclusion, all the rotten will come to the surface only to be overshadowed by an even more shocking revelation that won't see an explanation until the next episode. With these premises, the season finale of the series promises to be an excellent conclusion to this short but intense series.
Modus Operandi: the review you just read was written based on the version PlayStation 4 of the game, after completing the entire episode.
