The film dedicated to one of the most beloved villains of all time is close to release. Joker, sworn enemy of the bat man, is ready to make his big screen debut. The film, written and directed by Todd Phillips, will see the American actor Joaquin Phoenix take on the role of the villain of the DC Comics in a film that for the first time will focus on the origins of Arthur Fleck and his "transformation" from unsuccessful stand-up comedian to supervillain psychopath. Waiting to find out what this new film has in store for us, let's see what they were the five best Jokers in comic stories.
Batman: The Killing Joke
"Batman: The Killing JokeIs a comic story written by Alan Moore and designed by Brian Bolland. The story examines the sick and twisted relationship that Batman has with his oldest enemy, the Joker. Designer Brian Bolland's version of the Joker was based in part on his recent viewing of the film "The Man Who Laughs”1928 silent film directed by Paul Leni. This book shows us a crazy, sadistic, ruthless and violent Joker, remembering over and over again throughout history how one bad day is enough to turn you into a madman.
A death in the family
"A death in the family" written by Jim Starlin and designed by Jim Aparo is one of the most famous stories as it manages to perfectly embody the crazy and brutal nature of the Joker. Of course, we all know how the story ends, which is with the death of Jason todd (the second Robin). What is puzzling is not the death of Robin itself, but the brutality with which the young man is killed by the Joker. What many of you may not know is that the fate of the second Robin had already been decided by readers via a telephone survey, proving that there is a little bit of the Joker in each of us.
Death of the family
"Death of the family" written by Scott Snyder and designed by Greg Capullo sees the return of the Joker after a very long absence from the scene. The Joker's goal is to hit Batman through "his family" or kill the only people he surrounds himself with Bruce Wayne especially his masked allies, his companions in a thousand battles. This book focuses again on the relationship between Gotham's crusader and the Joker, introducing an unprecedented version of the latter which, with its ways, manages to give chills even to the most seasoned reader.
This will make you die, Batman!
"This will make you die, Batman!" written by Denny O'Neil and designed by Irv Novick. Batman hunts down his nemesis during his umpteenth prison break, but during this manhunt he is poisoned by a large dose of the Joker's toxin. The dark knight will have only forty-eight hours to find the antidote capable of healing him or he will die. The cruelty and madness of the Joker blend perfectly with the dark atmosphere of the seventies.
Come back to yourself
"Come back to yourself" written by J.M. DeMatteis and designed by Joe Staton. It looks like the Joker has finally managed to kill Batman. Over time, however, Joker realizes that his life no longer makes sense and he no longer feels that spark that once made him mad and ruthless. All this brings him "back" or transforms him into an honest citizen with a lot of family. A story that confirms the theory of many fans that is Batman himself to "create" Joker.
Do you agree with our ranking? I remind you that "Joker“, Written and directed by Todd Phillip, will be released in theaters on October 3rd.
