The steady increase in sales of gaming peripherals has led to an evolution of the offering of almost every hardware manufacturer. While riding this phenomenon, further accentuated by the pandemic, HP has not given up on classic lines designed for the professional field, but has also created the brand OMEN precisely for gaming devices, constantly expanding in variety and quality an offer that could not be without a low-latency wireless gaming mouse designed to satisfy demanding gamers. It is no coincidence that the product covered by this article is equipped with a PixArt PAW3335 sensor, Omron switch and a 180-hour fast charge battery, the highlight of an arsenal that we have tested for our review dell'HP Omen Vector Wireless Mouse.
Hardware features
The OMEN Vector Wireless mouse is equipped with a PixArt PAW3335 sensor from 16.000 dpi which combines the precision of the well-known PixArt series with low power consumption, necessary for a wireless device that promises a 'autonomy of 180 hours. Quite a lot for a gaming mouse with double RGB LEDs, 1 millisecond polling and the ability to record movement up to a speed of 400 inches per second, another important feature in terms of gaming. We also find six programmable keys, high precision wheel and a key to change the sensitivity on the fly. But in this case the mouse stands out from the competition by offering 8 preset dpi levels.
Instead, it returns to the classic in the case of the main keys with the Omron switches of 50 million clicks, now a constant for the € 80 mice. And it is a price that the OMEN Vector Wireless hits almost perfectly on Amazon, albeit with a cut of 20% compared to the launch one. It is therefore in line with its segment, while offering something more in the form of a magnetic housing for the wireless dongle, a USB-A to USB-C adapter and fast charging on USB-C, with 30 seconds per one hour of play and 90 minutes for a full charge, which is not at all common on gaming mice regardless of price range.

Design
Despite being a mouse destrorso, which is immediately evident given the small wing on the left that serves to house the thumb, the Vector Wireless has a rather symmetrical shape despite the left button slightly wider than the right. Both, however, are extensions of the shell of a chubby mouse that aims to fill the palm, guaranteeing a certain comfort to those who tend to fully grip this peripheral. On the other hand, the lateral rubber surfaces that guarantee a good grip and also a pleasant feeling to the touch are to the benefit of all types of players.
We find the same philosophy on the showy wheel, made particularly thick by theRGB lighting which also increases the contact surface, helping to reinforce the impression of having a solid and comfortable device in your hands. And it is important to give an identity to an object that is satisfied with a rather anonymous look, excluding a central programmable trapezoidal feeler that is not one of the most appropriate aesthetic choices of the HP mouse. Instead, we talk about comfort in the case of the position of the side keys which are placed rather high and are uncomfortable to reach for the thumb of a medium-sized hand. This choice, however, prevents you from pressing them by mistake, which often happens with some mice characterized by a similar setting.
Returning to the lighting, the second RGB light source corresponds to the OMEN logo, the now familiar rhombus that can obviously be customized, like the wheel LED, thanks to the Command Center software which, while not shining in terms of RGB options, offers the interesting possibility to constrain the lighting patterns to the DPI settings, making it easier to select the desired sensitivity.
At the level of design however, the solution that most impressed us is the slot on the back of the mouse designed to house the wireless dongle which, held in place by a magnet, is not likely to be lost. Among other things, it does not weigh particularly on the weight of a mouse that is certainly not ultralight, with 110 grams in total, but it is not particularly high considering the solidity, the dimensions of 7.45 x 8.14 x 4.2 cm and the long-lasting battery. .
Performances
Anonymous but comfortable to hold, the OMEN Vector Wireless relies on a solid, thick and precise wheel that works well in games and ensures pleasant tactile feedback. Same goes for the keys that are robust, but still light and very responsive, even in wireless mode. And this is where the 1 millisecond polling of an undoubtedly precise and versatile mouse makes itself felt. On the other hand it can be used with or without cable and in this second case it effectively guarantees a very high autonomy. It may not be 180 hours exactly, but we are in those parts as well as we are in line with the promises in terms of the timing of the fast recharge which in 10 minutes guarantees almost a day of use.
Added to the above are the convenience of the magnetically fixed dongle, the USB-A to USB-C adapter and the comfortable side surfaces that effectively guarantee an excellent grip. But not everything is perfect: first of all, the only way to use the mouse is the integrated dongle, since Bluetooth connection is missing. Furthermore, as anticipated, the side keys are a bit too high to be used comfortably. Finally, it should be noted that the thumb rest is really small and could give some comfort problems with a large hand.
However, when it comes to the mouse, the grip is a subjective matter unlike the characteristics that are excellent also from the point of view of the competitive gaming, without a doubt within the reach of a mouse which, as we have said, can also be used in wired mode, but it responds very well even without wires. All while remaining within the confines of the medium-high range in terms of price. Let's be clear, € 80 is not cheap, but the generous autonomy, versatility and comfort undoubtedly pay off the expense.
