But, just like a boxer on the ropes, the Kyoto company wanted to get up with a specific and unique purpose: to break the patterns that have distinguished it for at least the last 30 years. Think about it, a Japanese software house that develops an American mobile device title?     After the great Shigeru Miyamoto, during the presentation of the iPhone 7 in New York, announced the first mobile title of Mario, the criticism was definitely split in half, among those who praised this move or who even now labeled everything as the end of a real era and therefore the consequent and imminent closure of the Japanese software house. But, as often happens, in a whirlwind of emotions created by the presentation of Switch, Nintendo's next console, and much more, here we are at the fateful moment: Super Mario Run will be the revolution of the mobile genre? So all that remains is to get comfortable and find out through our review!

    Run Mario, run!

    Super Mario Run is a title that, by plot and above all commands, is quite simple in understanding and using it. Taking up the basics of the mechanics of a title "endless run“, But with clear and clear differences that we will explain later, the title greatly reinvents the gameplay of a thirty-year-old saga, how? Simple, eliminating the superfluous. Wanting to try to solve the biggest problem of platforming on mobile, the commands, Nintendo opted for a clear and simple dynamic: Mario, for the first time ever in its history, will automatically run alone. With the use of a single feature somewhat appreciated by myself, you simply have to touch your screen to determine when Mario will be able to jump; you don't even have to worry about the enemies as most of them will be automatically “overtaken” by the amazing stunts of the mustachioed plumber.



    Super Mario Run - ReviewThus revolutionizing the concept of jumping in the series, the player through a constant study of level design and, above all, of the constant exploitation of jumps on enemies that are in the air or on the ground, will have to be able to reach the most daring places to recover all the coins present in the stage. Koopa, Goomba and many other old glories will be present in the title and, as mentioned previously, will be a vital and functional part of the Super Mario Run gameplay: just as it happened for example in the most absurd levels of Super Mario Maker, also here every single enemy placement is not placed at random but studied to perfection to allow you to make the most of all the characteristics of Mario. Obviously do not underestimate the game, although it is quite easy to complete the level, it will be remarkably difficult to be able to never lose a life and / or recover all the pink, red and obviously the classic coins.

    Within each level you will have two air bubbles available which, as if they were real lifesavers, will make you return to any part of the level you want (very useful feature to recover missing coins) as soon as you fall into the classic ravine or you will perish at the hands of the most difficult enemies. Just like it happens in all the other chapters of the series, even here at the end of the world you will have to face various bosses, perhaps the least successful thing of all the technical sector of Super Mario Run: the battles with Bowser are somewhat disappointing.


    A challenge within the challenge!

    If a game makes you lose track of time and space, for me it is an absolute victory for those who have thought and created it. Super Mario Run actually has a great weapon, the Replayability not forced and above all not heavy and, perhaps, not even claim. Leaving aside the constant desire to recover as many coins as possible and therefore perfectly complete each stage in the game, the title will offer you a fair degree of challenge that will put you in front of a healthy competition with your friends and beyond.

    In addition to the main story, the title will present you in front of the Challenges to complete. In fact, through the always smiling Toad, you will be put to the test in completing certain levels with at the end of the precise evaluations: your style of play and obviously the final score obtained. You will have to face both the game AI and, above all, the "ghosts" of your real friends and, therefore, you will always be competing with each other to recover an extra coin from your opponent. And that's not all, in Super Mario Run you can also create your own Kingdom thanks to the completion of the Challenges. If you win, in addition to glory, you will also get workforce (ie the Toads), various types of houses such as the Mushroom that will teleport you to a bonus stage and other useful tools in order to build everything in the best possible way.
