Preliminary information
Before explaining to you how to unlock Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead on Fortnite, I think it is interesting to deepen the context in which the character landed within the title of Epic Games.
Well, the skin of Rick Grimes, or the protagonist of The Walking Dead (played by Andrew Lincoln in the TV series), arrived on Fortnite in the context of the Season 8 of Chapter 2 of the game. To be clear, the same one that puts the Venom Carnage costume in plain sight in the Battle Pass.
As usual, Epic Games does not enter into "casual" collaborations: the timing with which Rick Grimes arrived in Fortnite is in fact very interesting. First, the Season 11 of The Walking Dead reached in October 2021 his "half". Put simply, the skin has arrived at a time when fans are waiting for the final 16 episodes of the eleventh and final season of The Walking Dead (the year to be marked is 2022).
In addition to this, October is also the month of Halloween, which is why The Walking Dead feels like a perfect narrative universe to draw from to give Fortnite players something interesting. Among other things, Epic Games is also aiming at the inclusion of known actors, obviously in the shoes of their respective characters, within his video game.
For example, in Season 8 of Chapter 2, Tom Hardy arrived as Eddie Brock (Venom). In the previous season, however, the actors involved were Will Smith in the Bad Boys version and Ryan Reynolds in the Free Guy version.
In this context, along with Rick Grimes's costume (Andrew Lincoln), it was decided to bring back the skins of Daryl Dixon and Michonne. In the first case the actor involved is N, which has now also become an icon of the world of video games (who said Death Stranding?), while in the second reference is made to the actress Call Out.
In short, Epic Games is "hoarding" particularly well-known faces. Moreover, Season 7 of Chapter 2 was chock full of initiatives of this type. Simply dwelling on people who really exist, just think of reggaeton artist J Balvin and basketball player LeBron James.
The list of skins arrived, however, is much broader than this: among the names involved, we find Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, Loki, Cammy and Guile from Street Fighter and Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty. We then want to refer to the Ariana Grande concert and the Ferrari 296 GTB? In short, we understand each other: Fortnite is at the center of a whirlwind of news and now there is also The Walking Dead.
In any case, the skin of Rick Grimes and the return of those of Daryl Dixon and Michonne (who had already made their appearance at the end of 2020 on Fortnite) took place in the days that also see the start of the so-called Nightmare event (clearly associated with Halloween), which has a scheduled deadline of November 1, 2021.
In short, I strongly recommend that you follow this tutorial in the right promotional period, that is a few weeks related to the Season 8 of Chapter 2 of Fortnite (deadline set at December 5, 2021), so that you can actually succeed in your intent (otherwise, you may not be able to find the skins involved).
How to unlock Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead on Fortnite
After having explored the context in which the skin arrived, I would say that the time has come to analyze how it should be the procedure that allows you to get Rick Grimes costume on Fortnite.
In this context, you should know that Epic Games has chosen to include the skin of the character among those accessible through the Fortnite internal store. This means that you need to go through the V-Buck, which is the currency of the game, to actually get the costume.
More precisely, the single Rick Grimes skin, which actually includes the decorative back as well Sheriff's Bag, is proposed to 1.500 V-Buck. The most consistent offer, on the other hand, is that relating to Bundle Rick Grimes, which includes the skin, the aforementioned decorative back, the hang glider Falling satellite and the collection tool Club for walkers at a cost of 1.900 V-Buck (discounted from 2.800 V-Buck).
If, on the other hand, you are interested in single "secondary" skins, you can possibly point to the collection tool Club for walkers proposed a 500 V-Buck. The hang glider Falling satellite instead it has a cost of 800 V-Buck. In short, now you know the various proposals related to Rick Grimes made through the Fortnite Store.
I remind you that V-Bucks can be obtained in several ways. The free procedure consists of playing, leveling up within the Free Battle Pass and select, using the star system, the right ones rewards (i.e. V-Bucks, when available). This method is free, but clearly generally the number of V-Bucks that can be obtained is limited (It could therefore take several seasons to set aside a nice "nest egg"). Would you like to know more? You can refer to my tutorial on how to get free V-Buck on Fortnite.
For the rest, of course you can go through the micro-transactions, so you have everything right away. So I'll give you some information on package prices: generally 7,99 € they are equivalent to 1.000 V-Buck, while 19,99 € allow you to "take home" 2.800 V-Buck. What are the "biggest" packages? Those from 5.000 V-Buck (31,99 euros) e 13.500 V-Buck (€ 79,99). In short, now you also know how much you should spend to get the aesthetic elements of your interest related to Rick Grimes.
You shouldn't have any particular problems in eventually proceeding with the micro-transactions. Sure, the steps to take vary depending on the platform from which you have chosen to play Fortnite, but generally speaking you just need to set a valid payment method and complete the transaction.
If you have any doubts about it, you might think about referring, for example, to my guides on how to get V-Buck on Fortnite and how to pay on PlayStation Store.
