Requirements to play Fortnite on iPhone
If you are wondering how to install fortnite on iphone o how to download fortnite on iphone, perhaps you are not aware of the developments of the story that sees opposing epic Games (the company behind the video game) e Apple (your device manufacturer). Before continuing with the guide, therefore, I want to clarify in this regard.
Well, for some time now, for issues related to commissions retained by Apple, Fortnite is no longer available on the official App Store (in August 2020, Season 4 of Chapter 2 of Fortnite was the first to suffer problems of this type, as can also be read on the official Epic Games website). In simple terms, the game can no longer be downloaded to the iPhone.
This situation has been going on for years and also involves the Android world (the game is no longer available on the Google Play Store), but in that case it is possible to manually install Fortnite. However, there are no APK files and the like on the iPhone, so it is not possible to download the title from other sources. However, that doesn't mean you have to give up. In fact, if you just can't download Fortnite on another platform and play that way, there is nevertheless a method to achieve your goal on the iPhone.
In fact, starting from the day of 5 Maggio 2022 it is possible to play Fortnite on iPhone using the Xbox Cloud Gaming service. In case you don't know, the latter, which is still in pre-release (beta) and is also known as xCloud, would generally be included in the subscription Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (the price of the latter is generally 1 euro for the first month, then 12,99 euros per month: you can find all the details of the case in my tutorial on how Xbox Game Pass works). However, an exception was made for Fortnite: you do not need to have any subscription to play.
In any case, reference is made to a solution similar to Google Stadia and NVIDIA GeForce NOW, i.e. a service of cloud gaming. To make it short, you don't have to install any games on your iPhone, as the title is run on a performing hardware linked to Microsoft/Xbox, which then sends the video stream via Internet connection to your trusted device. If you have a good Internet connection (Microsoft recommends at least 7Mbps and a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, so you may want to run a speed test), you will probably notice very little: you will be able to play Fortnite from your device as if nothing had happened.
However, in case your Internet connection is not exactly the best, you may encounter headaches related to, for example, a latency e visual artifacts. In short, for this reason I recommend that you possibly play the Epic Games title from another platform if you can do it, but it must be said that, in reality, cloud gaming services such as Xbox are now capable to offer a satisfactory experience, obviously respecting the right requirements. Having said that, in the continuation of this tutorial I will explain how to get to play fortnite from iphone for free. In case you were wondering, it is not mandatory to have a controller. All you need is a Microsoft account and your iPhone.
Install Fortnite on iPhone
Now that you're aware of the cloud gaming issue, I'd say it's time to get ready to play Fortnite on your iPhone. In fact, you are still missing a few quick steps to reach your goal.
In reality, there is nothing complex, on the contrary: you just need to go by browser, the pre-installed one is fine too Safari. Open, therefore, the latter, using thecompass icon generally located at the bottom of the iPhone home screen, then connecting to the official Xbox Cloud Gaming portal (you can reach it quickly by typing xbox.com/it-IT/play in the search bar and pressing the button or).
At this point, scroll down the page and tap the button PLAY FOR FREE, then pressing the key GET READY TO PLAY/PREPARATI A GIOCARE (at the time of writing Fortnite is positioned in plain sight within the Xbox Cloud Gaming portal, but, if you can't find the Epic Games title, you can tap on themagnifying glass icon placed at the top and search “fortnite”).
At this point, you will be asked to press on theshare icon (the one with the arrow pointing upwards), scroll down the menu that appears on the screen and select the option Add to Home Screen, then pressing on the item Add, present in the upper right. By doing so, you will have available, directly in the Home screen of your iPhone, the icon Cloud Gaming, a link that you can use just as if it were an app installed in the "classic" way.
Therefore, press on this last icon and you will see the Xbox Cloud Gaming page appear on the screen again. Now, proceed by tapping the button first PLAY FOR FREE (you may also have to accept the classic cookies) and then on that SIGN IN/LOGIN. After that, run theaccesso with your Microsoft profile, so you can then press the button PLAY/REPRODUCE to start playing (you will have to wait a bit, but then you will see that the title will start, for the rest I advise you to put horizontally the iPhone, so you can make the most of the experience).
Play Fortnite on iPhone
Now that you've managed to launch Fortnite in the cloud on iPhone, you can start play the title as usual. In fact, you just need to tap on the button PRESS TO START present on the screen and possibly carry out the login with your Epic Games account (but you won't be asked, for example, if you've played Fortnite on Xbox before) to access the main screen of the game.
At this point, you will need to select the input method favorite (for example, auto fire mode), but then you can jump straight into the game. At the top left you will notice the presence of 8 dots: by pressing on the latter you will be able to access the Xbox Cloud Gaming options, although in reality with Fortnite you will hardly need the latter, as everything is already properly optimized. So, just tap the button LET'S PLAY, present at the bottom right under the area linked to mode selection, to start enjoying (however, the game will warn you that Save the World PvE mode cannot be played via Xbox Cloud Gaming).
For the rest, now you can safely play Fortnite via i touch commands present on the screen, in a similar way to what usually happens on mobile devices. In short, I'm sure you won't have too many problems understanding the controls (this will also be the time to "find out" if your Internet connection is actually able to "support" the Xbox cloud gaming service without problems in terms of latency and visual artifacts).
For the rest, if you are looking for information on how to take your first steps in this famous video game, I suggest you take a look at my guide on how to play Fortnite on iPhone, in which I have gone into more detail about the methods of supported inputs. For the rest, I suggest you read more about my tutorial on how to train in Fortnite, as well as monitor the page of my site dedicated to the Epic Games title (where there are many other guides that could be right for you).
