In Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 the collection of gems is used to enhance the life and magical attributes of the game, but also to unlock the following achievements / trophies:

Void Collector
Collect 30 Void Gems

Chaos Collector
Collect 30 Chaos Gems

Collector of Life
Collect 30 Life Gems

Expert silversmith
Collect all the Void, Chaos and Life gems

The important thing to know is that the gems they cannot all be collected in the first game, as in some chapters there are gems that can be reached thanks to skills that you will only unlock later in the game. For this reason, I recommend that you finish the game for the first time, then play it again in free mode when you have all the necessary skills to collect the gems.

Remember that, if you want, you can simplify your life with Dodo eggs, which will indicate the exact position of any special object, such as gems or sacrifice poles, etc. These eggs can also be purchased at the Chupacabra's shop for 200 experience points.
