In Final Fantasy XIII-2 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 there is a way to have the famous Odin in your party towards the end of the game.

To make this character join the team, you basically have to beat him in two different timelines.

First meeting with Odin
The first encounter with Odin is in Vile Peaks AF010 (you can access this timeline from Archylte Steppe. Complete all side quests in Steppe Archylte to open the gate to Vile Peaks AF010. The second battle with Odin is in Vile Peaks AF200. This timeline is accessed from Academia AF4XX. The gate should be near one of the Chocalina stalls. Do everything you can in Vile Peaks AF200 to make it to the second encounter with Odin. Once defeated, he will join your party
